So I had a long weekend; had friday off.
Wednesday and Thursday I finished up my Bespin updates.
Thankfully it ended up being easier (and quicker) than I expected. I took the trim off the tunic, opened it up at the back seam, flipped it and cut off three inches. Flipped back around, pressed it, tried it on – I had intitally been also planning to take up the side seams a bit, but once the excess was off the bottom, it didn’t look quite so oversized and I decided that taking it up was unnecessary. Sewed the back seam back up and Thursday night I sewed the trim back on.
I also repleated the front edge of the one side where the embroidery always wants to hide. Hopefully that helps it a bit.
Friday was supposed to be a sewing day, but instead I decided to clean Chase’s office. For our anniversary LAST year my gift to him was cleaning up and reorganizing his office, which I never got to… but then he decided he wanted some new furniture so we held off. Got the new furniture for Christmas. Finally put it together… I don’t know when? May? But all of his stuff has just been in either the guest room or the hallways or just in boxes and bins in his office ever since and it was a giant mess.
So I dug in as soon as I got up Friday morning – 7 AM. Worked nonstop until noon when I went to lunch with my parents. Back home by 2 and finished up around 3:30 – 4.
I wish I had a “before” picture but just imagine a room full of boxes and bags.
The only thing I couldn’t do was reach the very top shelf to put away some of his legos. Not even on our step ladder. So he’ll have to do that. Also he got new curtains but no curtain rod, and I got him a lamp for Christmas that I can’t figure out how to put together LOL So again, jobs for him…
And he has a lot of gear that I don’t know what it is… sometimes I could guess. In some cases I couldn’t even do that, so there’s still a box of “stuff” that I have no idea what to do with that he’s going to have to go through. He’s also still got a few things in the guest room to get out. But the hallway is clean and he has a office to work and relax in now.
Then I got cleaned up and changed to go see THE LITTLE MERMAID!
(Might need to go back for this?)
We had good seats on the front of the grand tier. I took my opera glasses so I could better look at the costumes. Ursula’s was my favourite! It was really good. Lion King is still my fav Disney show but I liked how they kinda expanded on Triton and Eric a little, singing was amazing, costumes were great. I especially liked that they used wirework to make it look like the mermaids were really swimming. I just wish the family next to us had been a little less distracting (texting, constant moving around, deciding to go the bathroom right before intermission ended, jumping up and down – which was cute at first but by the 2nd act was trying.)
Saturday I got my new TFA Leia underdress fabric cut and the panels all pinned together on both the lining and the dress. Went to ikea. Got a bag. Hung out with friends that night.
Sunday I got all the panels sewn together for both sides. Got them sewn together. It was a bit of a nightmare. Having a lining that had some stretch and an outer fabric that had NONE. Regrets were had.
The center front seam is a tortured looking mess even after being pressed several times. I think I’m going to have to undo it and stabilize it. So since I decided I needed to that I stopped working on it since I didn’t want to close up the hem. I did get the sleeves put together but not on yet.
Switched back to working on the pink thing for a bit before I stopped so we could go get ice cream and watch game of thrones.
Other random pics from the weekend…
Wrong number text to me at 1AM, woke Chase up LOL
Lil Boo! LMAO
Tried to create a Luna barrier with an old bolt. Didn’t work.
Close up of ruffles on the pink thing
A pretty dead moth that fell out of the umbrella on the back porch:
We’d had the back porch furniture’s cushions out, decided to bring them back into the garage, but Luna claimed them first. She slept on them all day yesterday.
Awesome bag I got at ikea. I took my lunch to work today in it:
